About this site

cyprusjustice.com (the “Site”) is an independent, non-commercial publication that tracks publicly available information about a specific criminal proceeding in the Republic of Cyprus. The Site does not sell products or services, does not run advertising, and does not require visitors to register or create an account.

This policy explains what limited data is collected when you visit the Site, why it is collected, and what your rights are.

Data we collect

We do not ask you to submit any personal information to use the Site. There are no accounts, no login, no contact forms, no newsletter sign-up, and no comment system. The only data processed in connection with your visit is:

  • Technical request data. Like any website, our hosting provider automatically receives standard technical information when your browser requests a page — including your IP address, user-agent (browser and operating system), the URL requested, the referring URL, and a timestamp. This is used only to deliver the page, maintain security, and diagnose errors.
  • Google Analytics. The Site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-LS5SX1GFRW) to understand aggregate traffic — for example, which pages are read, from which countries, and via which referring links. Google Analytics may set cookies in your browser and process data such as a truncated IP address, device and browser information, and pseudonymous identifiers. This data is processed by Google LLC as an independent controller under its own privacy terms.

We do not use advertising or remarketing cookies, we do not sell or share visitor data with third parties, and we do not attempt to identify individual visitors.

How we use the data

The limited data described above is used only to:

  • deliver the requested pages to your browser;
  • monitor the technical health and security of the Site (for example, to block abuse or diagnose errors);
  • understand, in aggregate, how the Site is being used so we can improve its structure, accuracy and readability.

We do not use the data for profiling, automated decision-making, or direct marketing.

Cookies

The Site itself does not set marketing cookies. Google Analytics may set first-party cookies (typically named _ga and _ga_<ID>) to distinguish unique sessions. You can:

  • block or delete these cookies through your browser settings;
  • install the official Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on to prevent your data from being sent to Google Analytics;
  • use your browser’s “Do Not Track” or private browsing mode.

Data storage and retention

We do not maintain a database of visitors. Technical request logs held by our hosting provider are retained only for the period needed for security and diagnostic purposes and are then automatically discarded.

Data collected by Google Analytics is stored on Google’s infrastructure and is subject to the retention period configured in the Google Analytics account (by default, up to 14 months for event data). Google may process this data in countries outside the European Economic Area under its own safeguards.

Legal basis (GDPR)

Where the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, the legal basis for the limited processing described above is our legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) in operating a secure, functional, publicly accessible information page, and in understanding aggregate usage of that page.

Your rights

Because the Site does not maintain personal accounts or a visitor database, we generally do not hold information that can identify you. Where personal data does exist (for example, in hosting logs), you may have the right under applicable law — including the GDPR — to request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of that data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may also lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

Third-party links

The Site links to third-party publications (news articles, official statements, and similar sources) for context. Those third-party sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control. Please consult their policies before providing them with personal data.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect changes in the Site or in applicable law. Material changes will be indicated by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.

This page is provided for general information and does not constitute legal advice. The Site is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any government agency, court, or the Office of the Attorney General of the Republic of Cyprus.
